That said, it is considered literally one of the pillars of the Russian character.
To any Russian person, the word ‘авось’ is quite intuitive. “To hope for avos” means to do something by luck, by chance, without making any special efforts. This word even gave rise to the name of the mesh bag ‘avoska’. The bag was kept in case some interesting product appeared in the store.
