Is it possible to drink champagne in space?
Roscosmos
In this photo, cosmonaut Valery Polyakov opens up a bottle of sparkling wine during the New Year celebrations in 1995. It was the first and the only time that champagne was drunk on board the International Space Station (ISS).

Due to zero gravity, it simply turned into foam and was impossible to drink.

“Champagne is traditionally not drunk in space, because there is excessive pressure…” said Vyacheslav Rogozhnikov, deputy head of Russia's Federal Medical and Biological Agency.

“Even in terrestrial conditions, not every man can brilliantly open a bottle of champagne and, in space, it's kind of fraught with some unpleasant consequences."

Therefore, on New Year's Eve, Russian cosmonauts can only drink a little cognac. But, in general, alcohol is a big no-no on the ISS.
