How Russian cities are decorated for New Year 2025 (PHOTOS)
1. Belgorod
A 30-meter-tall New Year's tree was placed on Sobornaya Square in the very center of the city. This is the main place for festivities. Souvenir kiosks and light arches also appeared on the square.
2. Rostov-on-Don
In the south of Russia, in Rostov-on-Don, the brightest decorations can be seen near Gorky Park. All art objects and illumination have been made in gold color tones.
3. Sochi
In the main resort city of Russia, snow is rare and palm trees coexist with bright New Year trees. Most of the art objects have already been used in previous years and are well known to the locals.
4. Kazan
The capital of Tatarstan sees a lot of tourists for the New Year holidays every year and light installations are literally on every street and square. Bauman Street, the main pedestrian street of Kazan, turned out to be especially bright.
5. Norilsk
In Polar Norilsk, installations in the form of a variety of trees have appeared on the streets. In addition to the ‘fairy-tale forest’, Norilsk residents also have an ‘ice town’.
6. Vologda
One of the oldest cities of the Russian North was decorated with New Year's baubles, arches and snowflakes. Meanwhile, almost two kilometers of garland were used on the artificial New Year’s tree.
7. Zelenogradsk
A small town in Kaliningrad Region is traditionally decorated in the European style. All stores and cafes on the main streets have been decorated and, every year, the town organizes a competition for the best New Year decoration among businesses. So, everyone gets to compete with their neighbor.
8. Kirov
This year, Kirov became the New Year's capital of Russia, taking the baton from Suzdal. Therefore, the city has prepared many festive programs for guests and locals. In addition to garlands and arches, you will see the most original Christmas trees from the regions of Russia. The Vyatka bird of happiness was the symbol of the year.
9. Yakutsk
In the coldest region of the country, the New Year tree was lit on December 1 – the very first in Russia to do so. The city is also decorated with colorful decorations in the Yakut style.
10. Tyumen
In Tyumen, meanwhile, huge polar bears and a fair with carousels have appeared on the streets.
