2 words Russians struggle the most to spell in 2025

On April 5, the annual ‘Totalny Diktant’ (‘Total Dictation’) campaign was held in Russia, in which a whopping 1.3 million people took part! Under dictation, they had to write down a given text, prepared by writer Marina Moskvina. And then, a special commission checked for errors in spelling and punctuation.
This year, it turned out that the most frequent mistakes were in the words ‘correspondent’ (‘корреспондент’) and ‘professor’ (‘профессор’)!

Many people remembered that there are double consonants in them, but were confused about where exactly they should be put.
Also, as the organizers say, other words that caused the most difficulties in writing included: ‘превращения’ (‘transformations’) and ‘экскаватор’ (‘excavator’), which some people mixed up with ‘эскалатор’ (‘escalator’).
Do you remember how to write them correctly?
