Alina Pekova, a 32-year-old mountaineer from Kabardino-Balkaria, has just finished climbing Vinson Peak (4,892 meters) in Antarctica, the continent's highest point.

“I was lucky enough to climb it on my birthday with a great team,” she wrote on her social networks. “The altitude is low, but the most unpleasant factor in Antarctica is the relentless cold. We were fortunate with the weather, as it was sunny and the most beautiful views opened up at the summit.”

In 2024, Alina became the first person from Russia to conquer all 14 of the world's highest peaks

This year, she is climbing as part of the ‘Seven Summits’ mountaineering program, which includes the highest mountains in all parts of the world. Vinson Peak has already become her fifth peak in this program.
