6 cafes where cats RULE! (PHOTOS)

MOSCOW
‘Kotiki i Lyudi’ (‘Cats and People’)

One of the capital’s first ‘time cafes’ (where you pay for the time spent there) with tailed inhabitants. You can visit to socialize with cats or find yourself a purring friend – the cafe also works as a platform for finding owners. You can also do yoga under the supervision of cats or play around in the children's playroom.
‘Kotofeynya’ (‘Cat Coffeehouse’)

Tea, coffee or a kitty? Or maybe both? No problem: everything is possible at ‘Kotofeynya’! Take a break and drink something warm, spend time with the whiskered and striped purrboxes (an hour or the whole day – whatever you like!) and, who knows, end up choosing a kitty that will move in with you. Over the past eight years, ‘Kotofeynya’ has found owners for more than 400 of its residents.
‘Buffet 302-Bis’

A black cat named ‘Begemot’ (‘Behemoth’) lives in the cafe at the Bulgakov House Museum and Theater. Strictly speaking, he is an employee of the museum with his own personal veterinarian and groomer. Begemot leads a completely feline lifestyle: he can allow himself to be photographed, or take a nap on a chair or go on a tour of his domain.
PETERSBURG
‘Respublika kotov’ (‘The Republic of Cats’)

The cafe-branch of the Cat Museum on Yakubovich Street has been in operation since 2011. Under its roof, there is a cafe, a library and a coworking space. You can play with the cats there, pet them and take pictures of them. By the way, it is there that you can meet some of the famous Hermitage cats. Incidentally, another “Republic” – of exclusively female cats – operates on Liteiny Prospekt. All residents are looking for a home. The interiors of the largest European cat cafe are decorated with paintings by artist Vladimir Rumyantsev. Various master classes and cat events are also regularly held there. And there is also a thematic souvenir shop.
NIZHNY NOVGOROD
‘Murrrchim’ (‘Purrr’)

This cat and dog cafe in the city center has been in operation for seven years. Cats, dogs and other animals live there and are all also looking for their forever home. You can meet them, pet them and choose one for yourself and your family.
‘Murzik’

Two dozen tailed residents live in this ‘anti-cafe’. Getting to know them can be combined with playing board games, puzzles or simply sitting in the library!
